Tsoureki, 7:00pm
We will be gathering at the family home of Michalis and Veta Christofas for the tsoureki (traditional cake). The bride's friends hold the tsoureki over her head while she grabs pieces of the cake, dips them in honey, and feeds them to the single guests, starting with the groom. The stickiness of the honey symbolizes sticking the groom to the bride. Feeding the single friends is supposed to transfer good luck for their marriage prospects as well.

Ceremony, 8:00pm
We will be getting married in a Greek Orthodox ceremony at Ιερός Ναός Παμμεγίστων Καγιανίου Μυτιλήνης (Church of Pammegiston Taxiarchon, Kagiani, Mytilini) on a mountain overlooking the city and sea. The traditions and symbolism of the ceremony are described here.
The distance from Mytilini is about 7 km (13 minutes driving).
Drinks, Dinner, and Dancing, immediately following
A reception with dinner and dancing will follow the ceremony at Ελιά και Θάλασσα (meaning "Olive and Sea") in Skala Loutron, which is in the yard of an old olive oil factory. We are looking forward to sharing a feast with you and then dancing to the early hours of the morning, so take your afternoon nap and bring comfortable shoes!
We want everyone to have a great time and be safe. Please don't drink and drive. If you choose not to drive, you can always get a taxi (+30 22510 23500).

STREET VIEW Ελιά και Θάλασσα (Olive and Sea)
ATTIRE: Semi-formal. For men, jackets and ties are not expected or required, as summer weather is often quite warm. Ladies may wear short or long dresses. Although the island is often very hot during summer days, evenings can get cool so it is advisable to have a light sweater or shawl on hand. When selecting footwear, be mindful that there will be some walking on stone paths and the reception venue is on grass.
